~ Treasures ~
“Hallie Vanderhider epitomizes the best qualities of a modern woman. She is a lioness with the grace of a gazelle. She is amazingly brilliant, fiercely independent and spectacularly accomplished while being charmingly feminine and stylishly gorgeous. I am so proud to call her a Valobra Treasure.”
What was the first piece of jewelry you ever received or purchased for yourself?
The first important piece of jewelry I received was an opal and baby pearl ring that was given to me by my parents on my 16th birthday. The ring was passed down and I was the third generation to receive it. Unfortunately I did not have a daughter to continue the tradition. Perhaps I will be fortunate enough to skip a generation but keep it going!
Tell us two of your qualities that make you a gem.
I’ve been told that I am a caring, giving person who likes to bring a smile to others. I really think it’s more about a belief that everyone matters, everyone deserves kindness and everyone must pay it forward. And the fact that I have been known to be sarcastic on occasion. In the business world, I’ve been described as a problem solver. Again, I think it’s more about being persistent and having been taught a super work ethic by my father who had the greatest influence on my life and was a proud U.S. Air Force Colonel.
Rubies, sapphires, or emeralds? And Why?
Do I have to choose just one? I love them all! If I had to select one, it would be rubies because they are my birthstone. Some say rubies are the stone of love, passion, energy and a zest for life, all characteristics I embrace.
Share with us your pearls of wisdom.
Don’t take a single moment in life for granted because time is one thing you can never get back. As Tim
McGraw sang, “live like you were dying”; be the best person you can be both to yourself and to others.
If you could click your ruby slippers together and transport to a vacation somewhere, where would it be?
On a beautiful beach with good friends and family.
